I have had prior surgery so I am familiar with scarring. These sheets (Epi-derm) are incredible. My scars are minimal, and still fading.

I went through 4 wrist surgeries and was dealing with the emotional toll of the surgeries, as well as the scars that were left on both of my wrists…a constant reminder.  One of my co-workers suggested Epi-Derm Strips by Biodermis as she had used them for her c-section and said they worked great!  I went straight to biodermis.com and ordered them and I’ve been a user ever since!  I was amazed how quickly they worked and literally couldn’t be happier in finding Epi-Derm Strips.  They are a premium product but are well worth it as they really work!

A lifesaver. Prevents compression bra from irritating suture line. Makes the scars flexible so they don’t tug. If they lose adhesive, use soap and hot water and some of the sticky comes back. You can also hold them on with a bra.

Doesn’t stick , extremely disappointing for the price

I just started using the tape. It’s going to take time to heal. Check back with me in a few months..

These were perfect to be used after breast augmentation surgery if your scar is around the areola. I forget that I have them on. After a week of wearing all day and in some cases 24 hours I’m seeing a difference in the scars. I reccomend them!

Helped after my double mastectomy/reconstruction.

Great product! Helps a lot with irritation and scar healing.

Had to return they didn’t fit

ive been wearing these for a month now and they are still going strong…i wash them every night with a cerave mild body wash and let them dry overnight on a towel….i use the silicone gel at night. they are still perfect and stick well.i also wash the area right before putting them back on in the AM with the same mild body wash.

Love these, they really help smooth out the incision scars. I’ve reused them, just need a gentle soap and they are as good as new! Keep their stick after many uses. I cut mine to use the extra around the areola. Just place back on plastic package in between uses.

Todo excelente

Patches are expensive but they do work to smooth scars! I am impressed!

Have only been using them for a week but they have been easy to use, put on and wash. It does take time to dry so I recommend buying two sets.

Hasta ahora buen parcho de silicona

Se adieren ala piel con facilidad

These anchor pieces are so generous for my small post explant breasts that I am thinking that for the next set, I will just get the anchor pieces, and use the cut ends for the areola pieces instead of the donuts which were too large for my areolas anyway. They wash very well. I use J&J baby soap in the shower and remove them using soapy water, clean them with that, then hang them to dry over a cleaned grab bar. They are ready to go the next night. Surgeon wanted them on only 12 hours for the first 6 weeks. I did not have any difficulty or pain removing them, and the surgeon did not allow them to be worn until 30 days post-op and no scabs present. I have worn them like this for 4 weeks and they are still going strong. The adhesion on the anchor pieces are great, on the donut pieces it is not as good for me only because they are too large overall, but this brand far outperforms the brand I bought at the drugstore.

One word a must buy

Love this product which they would put two sheets instead of just one for the cost but the product does work if you follow the directions

They work. Made my scars softer and lighter. East to wear

These worked super well. They start to slip if you wear in the shower but you can clean and reapply when you are done. I noticed a big difference in just a few days! I’ve been using silicone tape mostly for my other scars but this seems to work faster.

I purchased much more expensive tapes for a anchor breast surgery- this was a better option. no skin irritation, easy on easy off, easy to reuse and clean. I got the entire line after buying these. excellent product and great results!

These were amazing in helping my scars heal. They stick even after taking them off multiple times

I had breast lift surgery-no implants. These sheets were a Godsend. I have had prior surgery so I am familiar with scarring. These sheets are incredible. My scars are minimal, and still fading. I clean them each day with warm water and SilqueClenz and let them air dry. The adhesive still works and it has been three months. I highly recommend this product. Thank you!

This are a great value and work well. They last for a long time and are very comfortable.

They do soften scars, but when you stop wearing them, they come right back. I thought it would have long term effects

Highly recommend for scars post breast reduction. I was able to start scar therapy four weeks post op. These sheets are large! At 5’2 I had to trim off quite a lot. I have been using these now for four weeks and only remove for showering. I lay them out on a towel to dry and then do a quick blow dry to ensure they are dry before putting on. The adhesive is still strong and I think I can get another two weeks out of them. My scars are still healing but I think the sheets helped prevent them from widening due to tension and they are not raised, still red but don’t look too bad. Recommend this product if you are willing to put in the effort to take care of the sheets! You can make them last longer than expected!

Bon produit

I bought these and wore for a few weeks - with the cleansing they last me way longer than two weeks, and I cut them down and used the extra pieces when the main piece started to break up.

I don't write many review but I am very pleased with the results of using these! I depended upon reviews from people to decide which product to buy to help reduce my scars.I purchased a set of the mastopexy strips and the circle ones to use on the scars from my breast lift beginning at week 4. The scars that go vertically and then horizontally under my breast we're looking good with the exception of some areas that were raised and reddish. I have seen huge improvements and I have been using these for 7 days. The redness has lessened and the areas where the scars were raised has significantly flattened out. I am so pleased! I have had no problem getting them to stick and I do wash them each day. I'm not sure what product is recommended for cleaning them but I just use regular liquid hand soap. I discovered that laying them on a towel is important to get them to dry. if you lay them on a smooth surface such as plastic or a counter they will take much longer to dry. I also allow a fan to blow across them and tthey are usually dry enough to put on within an hour. I am using hydrating cream . I put that on and leave it for the hour that I'm waiting for the strips to dry and then I put them on without washing the cream off. That may not work for everyone but with the cream I'm using I have no difficulty with the strip securing to my skin and staying on all day and all night. I did use the circular ones for my areola scars and within an hour I felt a burning itchy feeling around the incisions I removed them and there was increased redness so I cleaned the area and left them off I tried again a few days later after the redness went away and it happened again so I have chosen not to use those. I am not sure why I had that reaction from the circular tape and not the other.

I didn't start to use these until about 4 weeks past my reduction and lift with breast cancer surgery. I am not sure they did much directly with the scars, but they made it possible for me to massage the scar tissue to break it down. In addition it made wearing my bra so much more comfortable since the elastic from my bra would rub on the scars. I really felt like they gave me my life back. I could wear my bra without pain for the first time after getting these and I could rum the scar tissue to break it down with them on.I would clean them each night and lay them on a towel with the sticky side up. By morning they were perfect to wear and always stuck again. They last much longer than advertised, which is good since they are expensive. But they were worth every penny for me.I found that they fit my scars just right. I didn't have to trip them down at all. I also got the round ones to go around the nipple. That is where I noticed less scarring after using them. The scars under the bust and under the arm are so big that they didn't seem to help visually with them.

Really like these. Fit well and stays on. Starting to flatten the scars from my mommy makeover

Thanks

I like that you’re able to wash them so they stay clean. If you’re gentle with them and follow instructions, they will last. My scars healed nicely and faster than the few scars I only used topical cream on. The unique round shape lays flat and keeps the scars from raising. I’ve used the strips, which I’m not saying won’t work, but these are way more convenient and worth the cost.

Excellent! Ive had to use these daily for over 3 months. They are easy to wash with cold water and soap and STILL have perfect adhesion. Other products were not worth the hassle and cost of disposables add up. These are worth every penny.

Good

It feels nice to the skin.

Very happy with this. Been using for 2 weeks and I can already see a difference. No problems at all with losing any adhesion

Great product, really works fantastic....provides real relief and healing....Will only last 4/5 days with removal daily for bathing. Do-not use lotions or oils in the area where you use the silicone tape. ABSOLUTLEY recommend.

Recommended by my plastic surgeon these seemed very expensive but these have worked great! I got compliments from my radiation nurses about how nicely I healed from my breast surgery! If you carefully wash them daily with mild soap they will last for months and will reduce scaring! They are easy to apply and maintain their "stick". I've been wearing the same one for 3 months!

I had a explant/mastopexy three years ago. Used EMBRACE and numerous scar tx's but nothing really worked on the areolas. I asked my surgeon several times if he knew of a product for the nipples to no avail. I recently found these Areola Circles and wish I'd known about them before so much time had elapsed. I've worn them two days and one night alternating one day off with a comfort bra and have noticed a difference in the areola scarring (even as aged as they are). They wash easily and maintain stickiness. If you're contemplating breast revision or reconstruction I recommend this product.

Epi-Derm Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Epi-Derm Clear and Epi-Derm Natural?

The difference is that Epi-Derm Clear is fully transparent, with release liners on both sides. It is tacky on one side only. Epi-Derm Natural is beige in color with a soft fabric backing that tends to do well under clothing - letting fabric slide over it without bunching. Both varieties are made of 100% medical grade silicone.

Is Epi-Derm self-adhesive?

Unlike many other scar products, Epi-Derm is self-adhesive, but you may need to apply Epi-Tape or Epi-Net on certain areas of the body for extra securement.

How long do I use Epi-Derm for?

With any 100% medical-grade silicone therapy, best results are achieved with uninterrupted, continuous use.  Epi-Derm sheets can be worn for up to 12 hours at a time, washed (with a non-foaming, fragrance free cleanser like Silqueclenz), and re-used.  Epi-Derm is suitable for day and nighttime use.  With proper cleaning and average wear-and-tear, each Epi-Derm sheet can last 2-3 weeks.

What is the difference between your product and others?

Unlike many over the counter scar reduction products, Epi-Derm, Pro-Sil and Xeragel are made of medical grade silicone. Because of the quality and high standards of all Biodermis family of products, it is sold directly to hospitals, burn centers, plastic surgeons, dermatologists and other specialists.

How effective is Epi-Derm on older scars?

Epi-Derm is effective on all types of scars, including older scars.  Clinical studies have shown the newer the scar, the quicker the results, so with older scars -- products just need to be used for a longer period of time.

Do I need to use any other products with Epi-Derm?

During the day, especially in exposed areas, the most discreet option is often preferred.  For those situations, an on-the-go silicone product like Pro-Sil or a gel like Episof is recommended. For 24 hour a day usage, many patients prefer Epi-Derm scar silicone sheets at night when they are at home or sleeping, because a single sheet will last all night, and then Pro-Sil during the day.  Silqueclenz by Biodermis is the ideal cleanser formulation for cleaning silicone sheeting between uses.  Lastly, Epi-net or Epi-tape are sometimes required to keep silicone secured in areas that tend to actively bend throughout the day - such as a knee or ankle.

Will Epi-Derm completely eliminate my scar?

Ideal scar management results in a minimizing of the height, thickness and/or discoloration of the scar, thus helping flatten, smooth and blend the scar with the surrounding skin, making it far less noticeable.

Are there any complications?

Instances of skin irritation with silicone are rare.  However, as with any topical device applied directly to the skin, it is possible.  If any skin redness or irritation occurs, speak with your doctor to understand the root cause.

Is it safe?

Yes. Each product has received U.S. FDA clearance and European C.E. mark and is comprised of safe, non-toxic, non-medicated, semi-occlusive silicone gel.

Can I cut the Epi-Derm sheet?

Yes, Epi-Derm scar silicone sheets may be cut into smaller pieces using clean scissors or a knife. The piece of gel sheeting should fully cover the scar and extend 1/4 inch all the way around the scar border.

How is Epi-Derm different from other silicone sheets?

Biodermis is the originator of silicone sheeting in the industry and the first to introduce a variety of configurations and thicknesses, while maintaining the highest quality and regulatory standard.

Can I use Epi-Derm in conjunction with other products?

Nothing should be used underneath Epi-Derm gel sheeting (between the gel sheeting and your scar). Of course, Pro-Sil and Episof are frequently used during the day on exposed scars (face, hands, elbows, etc).

How should I store the unused Epi-Derm?

Biodermis recommends that you store it in its original packaging at room temperature.

How soon can I start using Epi-Derm?

Epi-Derm can be applied after the sutures have been removed, and the scab is no longer present.

Can Epi-Derm be used on children?

Yes, it is safe and non-toxic and can be used on children.

Which side should I apply to the scar?

Always apply the sticky side of the silicone sheets to the scar.

Should I remove the sheeting when I shower, workout or swim?

Yes, it is recommended to remove silicone sheeting for scars when you shower, workout or swim due to the excessive moisture. However, it does not harm the product or your scar.

Can Epi-Derm be used on facial scars?

Yes, Epi-Derm silicone strips work great on facial scars. Frequently, patients choose to use Pro-Sil or Episof on facial scars during the day because these products are less noticeable, then use Epi-Derm scar silicone sheets at night.

How long will gel sheeting last?

Once gel sheeting has been applied to the scar site, it can be used for 2-3 weeks. When it begins to lose its adhesive qualities, or when surface oils or skin cells become difficult to remove with proper daily washing, it is time to replace the sheet.
Unused product, whether opened, or unopened, will last for years when stored properly.

What are keloids and can Epi-Derm help prevent them?

Keloids are the aftereffect of an overgrowth of dense fibrous tissue that usually develops after healing of a skin injury. When a scar is formed, connective tissues or fibers are formed at the site to hold the wound closed. Keloids form when the cells continue to multiply after the wound is filled in. Symptoms may include pigmentation of the skin, discomfort, or an itchy or painful sensation.
Scar treatment therapy options include silicone sheets for keloids, and pressure treatment. Keloids may often be prevented by using a pressure dressing like Epi-Net in conjunction with silicone scar strips over the injury site 24 hours each day. This treatment is most effective after healing of the wound or injury, usually within a month.
