Favre, who has undergone a number of surgeries over the years, could treat any scars he may have sustained over the years with silicone-based scar treatment products.
In a post on his official website, Favre confirmed that he had the surgery to remove some scar tissue and bone spurs which had been bothering him. Famous surgeon Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery in Florida.
Andrews also repaired Favre's shoulder last year, and Favre has had bicep surgery recently as well. Favre's battles on the field, combined with these reconstructive surgeries, may have left him with numerous scars.
Favre will take 4-6 weeks to recover from the surgery, which puts him on track to return by the time the Minnesota Vikings start training camp. Favre sustained the injury in last year's NFC Championship game, where the Vikings lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.
Athletes who suffer injuries that require surgeries can keep their appearance looking good by treating their scars with silicone ointments or gels.
