There are some benefits to having several procedures done at once, including minimizing the amount of downtime needed to recover, smaller costs and less days needed off from work.
Some may be cautious about having more than one procedure being done at once, but doctors do note that there are certain cases where it is beneficial.
"Most surgeons and patients alike would raise their eyebrows hearing about such excess, because the perception is that typically more surgery means more risk. That being said, there are a number of reasons why combining a limited number of procedures might be sensible for a patient," said Dr. Todd Mirzai, a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Patients are seeking more bang for the buck, and during a rough economy they are more likely to shop around and search for what works best for them and their budget. When combining procedures like a breast augmentation, abdominoplasty and laser liposuction, many may see a decrease in cost compared to having each one done separately.
One side effect of surgery may be scarring, but the use of silicone ointment may help diminish the appearance of those marks in no time.
