Plastic surgeon has new approach to scars

Plastic surgeons often have patients approach them about ways to minimize scarring or eliminate them completely.

Dr. Minas Chrysopoulo is based in San Antonio, Texas, and has had many conversations with patients regarding their scars. He notes that there are several products and procedures that can be used to help reduce the appearance of the marks, but he decided to seek out his own treatment, according to KENS 5.

Chrysopoulo developed a topical treatment that utilizes silicone, aloe vera and vitamin C. These ingredients help reduce the appearance of dark marks and smooth the skin.

The treatment can be used on scars that are recent or old, and can also be applied to acne scars as well.

"As soon as the scar has gone through the initial stage of healing, as soon as the skin has healed over, you can start using it and massaging it into the scar and using it twice a day," he told the news source.

Other scar treatment products such as silicone gel sheeting may also help diminish the appearance of these marks over time.
