Plastic surgery on the rise among youth in China

The cosmetic surgery industry in China has been booming, and instead of spending their summer vacation relaxing, Chinese high school and college students are going under the knife, AsiaOne.com reports.

A recent study conducted has seen a rise in the number of young adults electing to have plastic surgery done. Many cite their hope of landing a better job as their main reason for altering their appearance, according to the news provider.

"Students believe having a better appearance increases their employment chances amid the bleak job market," researchers wrote about the findings. "Better looks will boost their self-confidence, they think."

Director of China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing told the news source that the most sought after procedures are for double eyelids and nose jobs. He also noted that breast augmentation procedures and laser treatments had seen a rise in popularity recently.

Individuals who have undergone a cosmetic procedure may be pleased with their results after the swelling goes away, but, depending on what was done, they may be left with scarring as well.

Scar treatment products like silicone gel sheeting and ointments may help reduce the appearance of scars that are the result of a surgical procedure.ADNFCR-3015-ID-19908216-ADNFCR
