Foot facelifts may be the latest plastic surgery craze

Once the sun hits and the warm weather arrives, people kick off their boots and slip on a pair of comfortable sandals. The latest trend in cosmetic surgery now applies to our feet, making them even more presentable for the summer sand.

A foot facelift, toe tuck and toe shortening surgery are the latest crazes for those concerned with the appearance of their feet, but the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) is warning indivduals of the risks associated with altering a functioning foot for cosmetic purposes.

"All surgical procedures contain risks including, but not limited to, wound problems, infections, nerve injury, recurrence of deformity, post-surgical pain, and scar formation," the organization said in a statement.

The procedures done on feet are to make them more attractive when wearing a particular pair of shoes.

Individuals who are familiar with cosmetic procedures know there are risks associated with the elective surgeries. However, those who develop scars as a result of the surgeries may be able combat the the appearance of post-surgical scars.

Silicone ointments and gels may help diminish the look of scars that develop from surgical procedures, both cosmetic and otherwise.ADNFCR-3015-ID-19857454-ADNFCR
