Young man left with scar for life after glassing incident
Douglas Robertson was on the receiving end of a glassing attack in the lobby of an Australian hotel, and is now preparing to leave his town after the judge in charge of his case decided not to jail the assailant.
The Morning Bulletin reports that Robertson received 40 stitches to close the wound that was the result of the attack. He told the news provider that if the wound had been any deeper, he may have lost all muscle function in the right side of his face.
The young man now has a permanent scar leading from behind his ear to his jaw.
"The doctor told me that if the wound had been one centimeter lower it would have severed my jugular and I would have died. I was lucky to have such a good surgeon, but I will carry this scar forever," he told the news source.
The appearance of a scar that is the result of an accident or attack may be reduced with the aid of scar treatment products like silicone ointment or gel sheeting.
