Woman bears scars after surviving horrific car accident
Debbie Stewart was driving to work one day when she took a sharp turn, causing her car to roll over and leaving her trapped, but what she didn't realize was the severity of the injuries she had sustained.
The Scottish Sun reports that Stewart's face had been dragged along the pavement as her car slid, resulting in serious damage being done to her skin and head. Rescue crews saved the woman, but she had to endure painful surgery and recovery.
Surgeons had to graft skin behind her ears to rebuild her forehead and they used tissue from her right eyelid to help create a new one for her left. She spent three months in the hospital and returned home depressed about her appearance. But when she became pregnant she realized how lucky she actually was.
Stewart now had a six-month-old daughter, Sydney, and although she still had some scars, she is confident that the future looks bright for her and her child.
The use of scar treatment products like silicone gel sheeting or ointment may help diminish the appearance of scars that are the result of an accident.
