Think twice about getting a tattoo
Tattoos can be an expression of many things ranging from love to adoration, but what happens when the love has run out? Getting a tattoo removed can be a painful and even costly procedure.
"If you've got the name or initials of somebody you're no longer in a relationship with displayed on your arm, then you're definitely going to want to get rid of it," cosmetic laser specialist Brian Barrett tells news source, Independent.ie.
Getting a tattoo removed requires several sessions of laser treatment that zaps away the unwanted ink. These procedures fluctuate depending on the size of the tattoo and the person's skin sensitivity, taking anywhere from three to 15 sessions to get the desired result.
Though tattoo removal technology has advanced over the last few decades, there is still a chance that permanent scarring may occur after the procedure.
According to the news source, black ink is the easiest to remove, but green ink will never fully fade. Since each person heals differently, scarring may be an unwanted side effect.
If scarring does indeed occur, using silicone-based scar treatments may help reduce the appearance of the marks. Silicone ointments and gels are easy to use and can help erase unsightly reminders of your dreaded ex.
