He faded in and out of consciousness, and was was found by rescue workers and rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Doctors detected bleeding in his brain, and told his family that it may be a significant amount of time before the young man would be able to perform simple tasks like eating and talking.
It has been four-and-a-half months since the accident and Roche has made a miraculous recovery. He still does not have his sense of smell back, but he surpassed the expectations of his doctors.
He now has a horseshoe shaped scar behind his left ear, and says that he feels like he's back to being 98 percent of who he was before the accident, the news source reports.
Scar treatment products like silicone ointment and gel sheeting may help reduce the appearance of scars that are the result of accidents or surgical procedures.
