Stab victim needed scar treatment after attack
Christina Oliveira was asleep, cradling her newborn infant, when her ex-husband snuck into her room and stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife. When their twelve-year-old boy entered the room, he dropped the knife and ran.
Oliveira was rushed to the hospital, where her life was saved through emergency surgery. Her children escaped unharmed. But after the surgery, she developed a hernia as well as massive keloid scars, which only served to remind her of the brutal assault.
Keloid scars are a common but incurable condition that cause some people to scar more easily than normal. It frequently shows itself after surgery. Scars of this nature can be greatly reduced through the use of silicone gel sheeting.
Christina's hernia was eventually fixed by a plastic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Racanelli. Yet scars do not ever fully heal. An effective method of treating scars are silicon based products such as silicon gel sheeting.
Oliveira is fully recovered now, although her ex-husband fled the country and has not been caught.
