Post-divorce cosmetic surgery becoming popular
Women who have been left by a husband for a younger woman are finding comfort, not in younger men, but in cosmetic surgery, Stylist.com reports.
Plastic surgeons have seen a rise in the number of patients coming in after a messy divorce. Some say they do it to get revenge against their ex, while others say they seek to start a new life with a fresh perspective, including their looks.
"One third of my patients are immediate post-divorce cases," Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr John Anastasatos told the news source. "Divorce is the second major stresser in life after death. It crushes you. It makes you feel like a failure."
Women most often select breast augmentations and abdominoplasty, according to the news provider.
These post-divorce surgeries aren't limited to women though. Men in their 50s are getting liposuction and facelifts after going through a tough split. Their main reason for doing so, is reportedly to get the attention of younger women.
Preparing for life post-divorce may be tough, and having a cosmetic procedure performed may help some individuals regain the confidence they had in their youth, but one thing you don't want to affect your renewal is scarring.
Products like silicone ointments and gels may help reduce the appearance of those scars and help complete the transformation.
