Pop singer proud to show off her scar
Pop star Anastacia, known for her hit, I'm Outta Love, used to be embarrassed by the scar she had on her abdomen, but has recently become more comfortable showing it off, according to ContactMusic.com.
The singer was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, an inflammatory bowel illness, when she was 13 years old, and was required to have a large obstruction removed from her digestive system.
Today, she is proud to bare her stomach and wear her scar as a badge of honor.
"I have a 4-inch scar on my tummy where surgeons removed this mass from inside. I used to be ashamed of this scar but by the time I was 30 I didn't mind flashing my belly. To me the scar is like a war wound - it proves I survived," she told the news source.
Surgical procedures may leave behind a scar as a reminder of an injury or illness. For individuals who would like to hide the mark, new scar treatment products, like silicone ointments, may help diminish the appearance of the scar.
