Eric Beckwith took the stand recently to tell jurors how Howard McBride attacked him and left him with a large scar running down the side of his face.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that McBride's attorney, Joe Nigro, alleged that Beckwith was in fact the aggressor and that his client was acting in self-defense. When the prosecution requested that Beckwith turn his face toward the jury, he revealed a large scar that ran from his ear down to his lip.

Beckwith was sliced in the face with a knife that McBride had hidden. The resulting gash was 4-inches and needed 65 stitches to close it. McBride is also accused of attacking Beckwith after he had been picked up by his girlfriend, McBride's ex, and stabbing him again in the thigh and shin. Those injuries needed an additional 28 stitches.

Scars that may be the result of an attack or accident may be reduced with the use of scar treatment products such as silicone ointment or gel sheeting.
