Christopher Reid was on the receiving end of the attack after he got into a fight with the father of Derek Devoy, BreakingNews.Ie reports.
Reid was taken to the hospital with the knife still in his back and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the blade and repair a punctured lung and heart valve, according to the news provider.
Devoy has been sentenced to five years in prison for his crime after pleading guilty to the charges.
Reid did not attend the trial, but issued a victim impact statement in which he claimed he has a 12-inch scar down his back and still suffers psychological trauma from the attack, the news source reports.
