Gunshot wound leaves scar and possible criminal charges
Kathy Myers had been experiencing shoulder pain for a few weeks, but was unable to receive treatment due to her lack of health insurance. She decided to take a shot at receiving treatment by putting a bullet in her shoulder, but all that left her with is a scar and possible prosecution, The New York Daily News reports.
Myers was unable to see a specialist about her shoulder pain, so she thought her problems would be solved if she shot herself in the right shoulder. Unfortunately, doctors only treated her for the gunshot wound and discharged her.
Luckily, she did not hit any serious organs or arteries when shooting herself, but her actions have prompted local authorities to open an inquiry into pressing charges, and speaking out against self-injury.
Myers said she is still in pain and has now added a scar to the equation as well. Through recent developments in scar removal treatments, silicone ointments and gels may help diminish the appearance of a scar.
