Eli Manning receives stitches after injury
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was injured in a game against the New York Jets Monday evening that resulted in a head laceration, ESPN reports.
Manning was tackled hard by Jets linebacker Calvin Pace, which caused Manning's helmet to fly off of his head, exposing him to other players. He hit his head on the helmet of Jets safety Jim Leonhard as he fell to the ground. As the athlete made his way to the sidelines it was clear that he had cut his face in the fall.
"I'll be back as soon as I can. It's really not an injury. Nothing serious. I really feel like I could go back out and play right now if I had to," he said in statement released by the Giants.
Manning suffered a three-inch laceration on his forehead from the collision, and needed 12 stitches to close it up. He is expected to make a full recovery and be back in no time, according to the news provider.
New scar treatment products like silicone ointment or gel sheeting may help reduce the appearance of scars that are the result of a sports injury or accident.
