Child scarred in playground accident
Alexander Austin was playing in the playground of his elementary school when he went to retrieve a ball that had been kicked near a tree. As he went to get the ball, he tripped over a root and fell face first into a bolt that was sticking out of the ground.
The South Wales Argus reports that the young boy suffered a gash to his chin and was taken to the hospital to have his wound closed. He now has a scar that runs from his chin to the corner of his lip, and his father, Neil, is concerned that other children may be in harm's way if playground safety issues aren't addressed.
"I am very concerned for the other pupils there. I just want to prevent anything like this from happening again," Neil Austin told the news source.
Children are prone to accidents, but scar treatment products like silicone ointment may help reduce the appearance of marks incurred through no fault of their own.
