Vogue airbrushes Tina Fey's facial scar, others use silicone gel
When Tina Fey appears on the cover of Vogue magazine this March, fans of the brainy comedienne may notice the absence of one of her defining characteristics - her facial scar.
The former Saturday Night Live star has become recognized not only for her on-screen antics, but for a small but prominent scar that appears on the lower left side of her face, Us Magazine reports.
As Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond, explained in a 2008 Vanity Fair issue, the actress' face was slashed by a stranger outside of her childhood home when Fey was just five years old.
However, the 39-year-old star of NBC's 30 Rock has repeatedly declined to comment on the facial scar, telling Vanity Fair, "It's impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it."
Accordingly, Fey's interview with Vogue does not touch on her air-brushed look as part of Mario Testino's cover shot, reports the news source.
Individuals who live with facial scars or other trauma scars may opt to forgo photo-shopping their favorite pictures of themselves in favor of using silicone products for scar treatment.
Silicone gel sheeting has been found to hydrate scars, hasten the scar healing process and improve the color and appearance of new or older abrasions.
