Teenager left with facial scar after being hit by a golf club
A teenager from Sussex, England, has severe facial scars after being hit with a golf club, according to The Argus.
Harry Wood suffered a fractured eye socket, reduced vision in one eye and a broken cheekbone after his friend hit him in the face by accident while they were playing at the Tilgate Forest Golf Club. Although the injury has changed some aspects of his life, Wood says that he will not allow the incident to get him down.
"Apart from the scar on my face and the altered vision, I believe I am my normal self," he told the news source. "I accept it's happened and I can't rewind."
Wood created a YouTube video that documents his six-month scar healing period, as a gift to the medics who had treated him.
An estimated 2 million golfers leave the game each year, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine reports that one of the reasons is due to injuries.
When such incidents result in scars, the use of silicone gel sheeting may be a good way to tone down the appearance of these marks.
