Scars often reveal a cosmetic procedure

When undergoing a cosmetic procedure, some individuals may be trying to shave a few years off their appearance, while others may want to enhance a particular part of the body. These surgeries may have their benefits, but they may also come with some side effects as well.

Having a cosmetic enhancement most often requires going under the knife and having a surgeon nip, tuck and lift certain areas to achieve the desired look. Surgeons may try to achieve the look with the least invasive technique possible, but sometimes incisions have to be made, and this may lead to scarring.

For example, when a patient has a facelift done, a small scar is most often left near the ear where the surgeon made the incision. The same can be said with breast augmentations, which can be done in a variety of ways, but there is no pure way have breasts enhanced without having incisions made.

For patients who don't like the idea of having a scar after a cosmetic procedure there are new products like silicone gel sheeting and ointment that may help diminish the appearance of the marks over time with use.
