Man left with permanent facial scar after rolling pin attack

An Aberdeen businessman has been scarred for life after being attacked with a rolling pin during a road rage attack, according to The Press and Journal.

Kirk Harrison lost control when Steven Gauld's car cut in front of him in North Esplanade West. The two men pulled over, exchanging heated words before violence broke out.

Witnesses saw Harrison brandishing a rolling pin, with which he gave Gauld an estimated 10 blows over the head.

Gauld was left bleeding heavily and was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he received 13 stitches and treatment for a dislocated finger. He was left with a permanent two-inch scar above his left eye.

"Mr. Gauld tried to turn his head away, but the accused continued this sustained assault," said fiscal deputy Elaine Ward, quoted by the news source. "Witnesses describe the accused raining blow after blow and repeatedly raising the rolling pin before bringing it down with considerable force."

Road rage incidents are common, as a recent Zurich Insurance survey revealed that 66 percent of UK drivers have used threatening behavior to others on the road.

Those who experience injury as a result of any violence may turn to methods of scar treatment such as silicone gel sheeting, which can reduce the appearance of these marks.
