Hairdresser scars bouncer's face for life
A 22-year-old hairdresser and mother of one has been sent to jail for attacking a bouncer with a wine glass, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Tara Lydiate left permanent scars on the face of doorman Andrzej Levochowski, who had to have pieces of glass surgically removed from his cheek at the hospital. Lydiate and her partner, Eliot Wilson, had been out drinking with another couple when they got into an altercation with Levochowski. When the bouncer asked them to leave, Wilson began arguing with him and Lydiate then smashed the wine glass into his face.
"The victim felt the glass shatter. He felt someone jump on his back and he was aware of the males trying to punch and kick him," said prosecutor Barry Darby, quoted by the news source. "He became aware of bottles being thrown. Blows were struck in the general melee."
Lydiate and Wilson were sentenced to 15 and 12 months in jail, respectively.
The consumption of alcohol is often associated with violence, according to the Marin Institute. In a study on interpersonal violence, women who were involved had been drinking in 20 percent of all cases.
Scars that result from such incidents may be treated with silicone ointment, which is a topical solution that may be able to reduce the appearance of these marks.
