Simplified heart surgery offers patients many gains

Patients in need of heart surgery may now have another option when it comes to cardiac procedures, The Times of India reports.

Referred to as the minimal access surgery (MAS), the procedure employs a less invasive method that boasts the same benefits as traditional operations, but is considered less painful, takes less time to recover from and only leaves a small scar.

According to the news source, published studies indicate that the MAS is just as safe as the traditional procedure and offers better recovery time. The operation can be used to replace valves and close holes in the heart.

Surgical procedures come with risks and complications, and many require incisions in order to reach specific regions of the body. This may lead to scarring during the healing process.

Scar treatment products like silicone ointment and gel sheeting may help reduce the appearance of scars that are the result of surgical or cosmetic procedures.ADNFCR-3015-ID-19933538-ADNFCR
