Stretch marks and cesarean section scars may impact self-confidence

The female body goes through a number of changes during pregnancy and childbirth, and one of the most noticeable tends to be weight gain, Babble.com reports.

The excess weight gained during pregnancy is normal and expected, but once the child has been born the body doesn't always return to it's pre-baby form. Stretch marks are a sign that the body has adjusted over a period of pregnancy.

Women who had a c-section may also have an extra mark or scar showing where doctors made an incision to remove the child.

A recent study published in Nursing in Practice found that, out of 100 women surveyed, nearly half suffered from negative self-confidence due to stretch marks or scars. Half of them also began to dress to cover up the marks and blemishes.

Scar treatment products like silicone gel sheeting may help reduce the appearance of c-sections scar and stretch marks and could help new mother's feel more confident.ADNFCR-3015-ID-19933539-ADNFCR
