Three-year-old still has scars from accident
Three-year-old Jared Coates suffered serious burns when he fell into a firepit on June 27. He spent over a month in the hospital, and recently returned home, The Times Herald reports.
Coates still has a long way to go before he is fully recovered, but doctors say that he is healing well.
His mother, Skylett Wilson, told the news provider that he is due for another full checkup to see how he his healing in September.
"On his right hand he's got full movement but the left hand is still really stiff and we have to keep working at it. Scar tissue does not stretch that well," she told the news source.
The young child does stretches and physiotherapy to help maintain the elasticity of his skin and wears braces to help with the treatment of his injuries.
Scar treatment products like silicone gel sheeting may help reduce the appearance of scars that are the result of an accident or surgical procedure.
