Race car driver left with scars after accident
Tony Linner's race car hit a wall, flipped over and then caught fire. That was in June 2009. Over a year later, Linner is reminded of the incident with the scars that cover several parts of his body, World-Herald News Service reports.
After crossing the finish line, one of the tires fell off the front of his car, causing him to lose control and crash. As the car was burning he scrambled to get out, but his gloves melted to his harness.
Linner spent almost five minutes in the car before escaping, leaving him badly burned and in need of medical attention. When he arrived at the hospital it was determined that 90 percent of his body had been burned.
"I started to see all the burns that I had and the skin grafts up to that point. It wasn't that great of a time being there, but it's a good hospital," he told the news source.
Individuals who have suffered burn scars as a result of an accident may not be aware of the advancement in scar treatment products.
Silicone gel sheeting and ointments may help diminish the appearance of scars that are a result of surgical procedures and burns.
