Man smashes pub windows in drunken rage, left with permanent scars
Following a drunken rage in which he smashed two pub windows with his arms, South Tyneside, UK resident David West acquired permanent scars from his injuries, the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette reports.
The incident occurred when the landlady of the Colliery Tavern received a phone call from another pub manager, warning her that West was arriving and that he was extremely intoxicated. He was refused service because of his condition, and an altercation with another customer caused him to be forcefully ejected from the establishment.
Shortly afterward, the landlady saw two windows being smashed and ran outside to find West covered in a large amount of blood.
West told officers later that he couldn't remember anything that had happened, but apologized and accepted his punishment.
"He suffered permanent scars on his arms when he used them to smash the windows," said lawyer Ian Haq, quoted by the news source.
For some, alcohol consumption can lead to violent behavior. According to the Marin Institute, the availability of alcohol has been linked to violent assaults.
Those who are physically scarred from such incidents may find silicone gel sheeting useful in helping to reduce the appearance of their marks.
