Liam Johnston and his friend Matthew Peters were walking together when they started to have an argument. Johnston told Peters that he had a big nose, which enraged the other man so much that he ran home and broke into his father's collection of samurai swords, according to The Daily Mail.

Peters returned to the scene and stabbed Johnston in the thigh with one of the blades. The sword damaged a nerve and Johnston was rushed to the hospital by other friends.

"The initial scar was just the size of the tip of the sword but after surgery he has been left with a 35-centimeter scar and he's still not able to walk properly," Detective Constable Rouven Snowdon told the news provider.

Peters received a jail sentence of five years and four months, which Snowdon hopes will send a message about the consequences of using blades.

There were 38 percent more cases of knife violence in England and Wales in 2008 than in previous years and many worry that the problem is growing, according to Insight-Security.com.

Knife wounds can leave noticeable scars that many victims may want to treat. Applying silicone ointment is one way that an individual can get rid of these marks and move beyond their injury.
