Man beaten with golf club is permanently scarred
A Mississippi man has been left with a large scar on the side of his head after being beaten outside of a bar in Schofield, the Wausau Daily Herald reports.
Tyrone Schara was leaving Pro Players Sports Bar and Grill with a friend when another group of golfers began to threaten him. A fight erupted in which Schara was allegedly beaten with a golf club, although he says that he does not remember the incident.
"My next memory was waking up [in the hospital] on October 2 and asking where I was," he said on the witness stand, quoted by the news source.
Another bar patron witnessed 28-year-old Jamus Baumgardt swinging the golf club "like an ax" while Schara lay on the ground. Baumgardt has been charged with aggravated battery, first-degree reckless injury and obstructing an officer.
According to the Marin Institute, a study on interpersonal violence revealed that men drink before an estimated 45 percent of cases of interpersonal violence.
When these incidents lead to scars, individuals may be able to reduce the appearance of these marks through the use of silicone ointment.
