A firefighter responding to an emergency call at a downtown Los Angeles hotel was assaulted and stabbed by an unidentified suspect Tuesday morning. Trauma scars, such as stab wounds, often require scar treatment products, such as silicone gel sheeting, to diminish the appearance of the scar as it heals.

Police have few clues in the bizarre stabbing, and the suspect is still at large. Fire department spokesman Richard Matheny told the Associated Press that Charles MacDougall and a colleague were treating a person who had fallen ill at the hotel.

Someone at the hotel told the duo that another guest needed help. When MacDougall, a 9-year veteran, went to check on the person, he was attacked and stabbed several times in the chest and back.

MacDougall was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The attack and resulting surgery will most likely leave scarring. MacDougall and other people with scars can quickly and easily reduce them with the use of silicone-based scar treatment products.
