Burn survivor recovery better than expected
Michael Brewer had been doused with rubbing alcohol and set on fire last October in a cruel act perpetrated by three teens.
CBS4 reports that the 16-year-old teen is now doing very well and getting back to doing what he loves. Like many teenagers, he's back to riding his bike and skateboarding, and is excited about driving school.
Almost one year ago Brewer suffered severe burns on two-thirds of his body, but now most people wouldn't be able to tell he has scars unless he lifts up his shirt.
Residents of the Independence Hall Senior Living Community in Wilton Manors in Florida are throwing the teen a special birthday party to mark his amazing recovery. The residents helped raise money through a fundraising drive, Moms 4 Michael, to support the teen and his family.
Using scar treatment products such as silicone gel sheeting or ointment may help reduce the appearance of scars that are the result of an accident or surgical procedure.
