An east London man who attacked a British rapper has been found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court of grievous bodily harm with intent, according to BBC Newsbeat.

Anthony Jones will serve a minimum of four years in jail for hitting rap star Professor Green - whose real name is Stephen Manderson - in the neck with a broken bottle. The incident occured outside a nightclub in May 2009 and left Green with a six-inch scar.

Green, who lives in Hackney and received the prize for best hiphop act at last year's Moho Awards, said that he did not press charges against the man. However, he was summoned to court to stand as witness during the trial.

"I nearly lost my life and I was in a position where I stood to lose everything if I didn't go to court," he told the media outlet. "If you've put yourself in a predicament, then you should deal with that and you should be man enough to take responsibility."

Excessive drinking can lead to violence in many cases. According to the Marin Institute, alcohol availability is closely related to violent assaults, which tend to occur in communities or neighborhoods with more liquor stores.

Individuals who sustain scars from such an incident can turn to silicone ointment to reduce the appearance of these marks.
