According to a recent report released by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), about 71 percent of respondents to a consumer survey think that society is less judgmental about plastic surgery today than it was just five years ago.
Consequently, about 62 percent of respondents said that they would feel more comfortable undergoing plastic surgery today, given the relaxed attitude, the Plastic Surgery Chanel reports.
Dr Mark Berman, the AACS President-elect told the news source, "A variety of factors have contributed to the normalization of our industry, but the bottom line is that people are not afraid to talk openly about cosmetic surgery anymore."
According to the survey, breast augmentation and tummy tucks were among the most accepted surgical procedures, both of which can leave patients with surgery scars.
As plastic surgery has become more acceptable, some doctors have begun advising that patients use products like silicone ointment to reduce the appearance of breast augmentation scars and tummy tuck scars after surgery.
